Welcome to MCHD

In all the world, there is not one single person on the same path as your child.

Find an educational environment that is constantly evolving and customizing itself to meet your child’s unique individual strengths and preferences.

We hope the information you find here raises questions and equips you with answers that you will take with you on your process as you search for an educational environment that is the right fit for your child.

Wondering what "Montessori" is all about?  It's not just for hippies.  Learn more on our "Why Montessori" page.

But there are a lot of Montessori schools in the area.  Why should you choose MCHD?  I'm glad you asked.  We'll tell you on our "Why MCHD" page

We've got lot of information to share with you; things like what a child who attends a Montessori school grows up to be, what our classrooms are really like, how the admissions process works, and more.  Explore our site, and ask questions when you're ready (try our "Contact" page).

We're glad you're here, and we'll be excited to meet you soon.

In a nutshell:
Each Montessori class, from toddlers through high school, operates on the principle of freedom within limits. Every program has its set of ground rules which differs from age to age, but is always based on core Montessori beliefs – respect for each other and for the environment.

Children are free to work at their own pace with materials they have chosen, either alone or with others. The teacher relies on her/his observations of the children to determine which new activities and materials she may introduce to an individual child or to a small or large group. The aim is to encourage active, self-directed learning and to strike a balance of individual mastery with small group collaboration within the whole group community.
